Challenge: VENKEL LTD. needed to generate new leads and gain a broader exposure among design engineers in the electronic components industry.
Solution: After analyzing costs and the time required to implement search engine optimization for major search engines, we recommended using a vertical search engine (VSE) instead. Our solution was based around GlobalSpec – a VSE serving the engineering, manufacturing and technical market segments. This strategy exposed Venkel to over 3.6 million registered users, 93% of whom are involved in the actual purchasing of electrical, mechanical or optical components.
Using GlobalSpec’s SpecSearch system for parametric searches, we linked Venkel’s entire catalog of 24,000 components to generate direct RFQs and drive pre-qualified traffic to their Web site. Product Announcements, targeted newsletter sponsorships and banner ads provided additional exposure and branding.
Results: The site activity and lead generation 10 months after launch:
- 37,231 – page views (number of pages connected with Venkel’s product area viewed by engineering, industrial and technical professionals)
- 22,786 – site traffic (visitors who viewed Venkel’s catalog/Product Announcements/Profile/Visited Site)
- 1,632 – qualified online leads (contacted company by phone or email)
- 26 – sales qualified leads that generated RFQs
